In the month of October, I completed a month long internship at the Shortmarket Club, in Cape Town. This month was very challenging and it made me fulfill tasks I had never done before. The chefs that work above me and with me on my designated sections were great to work with and were good role models for a young chef like me.
The environment at the Shortmarket club was spectacular, with a modern outlook on the food service industry. They also had good plans in place to ensure the smooth running of the restaurant. Also being in a new city was hard to adjust to, however you quickly learn that chefs are often pushed outside their comfort zones, and you just have to persevere and make the most of the opportunities you are given.
